Women's Day March 8

THE HISTORY OF WOMEN'S DAY

The movement for the rights of women does not emerged in the century or the century as many thought, but there are earlier and documented history. However, until the twentieth century there have been major achievements, always with the sacrifice and struggle of many women who have refused to comply. Notably
that they put in place on 8 March as International Day of Working Women had already held similar events among which include the Women's Day which was held in the U.S. on February 28, 1909 and continued to take place until 1913, but the celebration was more national character.
know that our first International Women's Day took place on March 19, 1911 in several countries in Europe and that first meeting was attended by more than one million women eager to make their demands known to the world:
Right to vote
The right to occupy public office
The right to vocational training
The right to work and freedom from discrimination by the mere fact of being female.
Although this we know for sure the problem arises when we want to know the trigger for this event, since there are many sources of erroneous information about different versions.
One of the versions on this theme that the March 8, 1857 in New York women plant (whose name also varies by source) protested by improving their working conditions, after which the employer owns the manufactures locked and burned 129 women dying factory. The myth goes on to say that in commemoration of this event occurred more later the International Women's Day, but in reality there is no reliable document to corroborate this version. Another theory circulating is that the fire occurred on March 8, 1908, a theory that falls apart as soon as you discover that the calendar year on the 8th of that month was Sunday, in which hardly causes a strike besides that there is not any data to substantiate this fact. Finally also heard that the origin might be a manifestation of the textile sector at this time was also in New York, but again we find that the claim does not seem to be based on any information seriously.
What we found when we go to serious research on this subject is that it was in Copenhagen where, in 1910, in celebration of the Second International Conference of Socialist Women was approved unanimously the establishment of the International Day of Working Women as a method of fighting for the cause of women. This was due and the proposal made by a woman and German Socialist Clara Zetkin.
